Структура концепту Рівність в англійській мові

Abstract

У статті здійснено спробу дослідити структуру концепту РІВНІСТЬ в англійській мові. Наведено визначення концепту з позицій лінгвокультурології, сучасного напряму в лінгвістиці, який трактує феномен культури через мовну інтерпретацію. Проаналізовано три складники (понятійний, образний, цілісний) лінгвокультурного концепту загалом та концепту РІВНІСТЬ в англійській мові зокрема. Отже, у статті з’ясовано понятійну основу лінгвокультурного концепту РІВНІСТЬ на основі словникових дефініцій лексеми equality, описано образний компонент лінгвокультурного концепту РІВНІСТЬ через виокремлення перцептивного образу та когнітивних метафор та досліджено ціннісну складову концепту за допомогою атрибутивних виразів, компонентом яких є лексема equality. На основі проведеного дослідження зроблено висновки, що в англійській мові концепт РІВНІСТЬ пов’язаний із поняттями рівних прав, симетрії та рівноваги. На образному рівні РІВНІСТЬ представлено переважно як візуально-перцептивний образ, який має певні когнітивно-метафоричні смисли. На аксіологічному рівні концепт тяжіє до позитивної оцінки. The article presents an attempt to research the structure of the concept of EQUALITY in the English language. The definition of concept is given from the standpoint of linguoculture, a modern linguistic trend which views the phenomenon of culture through language interpretation. The three components of linguocultural concept in general and of the concept of EQUALITY in particular are analyzed. These components are notional, imaginary and axiological. So, in the article, the notional component of the concept of EQUALITY in the English language is revealed on the basis of dictionary definitions of equality lexeme; the imaginary component of the linguocultural concept of EQUALITY is described by means of perceptive image and cognitive metaphors drawing; axiological component of the concept is researched through attributive phrases with equality lexeme. Having conducted our research, we came to the conclusion that in the English language the concept of EQUALITY is connected with equal rights, symmetry and balance. On the imaginary level it is seen as a perceptive image which has some metaphorical meaning. On the axiological level the positive value of the concept outweighs the negative one.
