Параметрична спрямованість компліменту в мовленнєвих актах (на матеріалі творів Шарлотти Бронте «Джейн Ейр» та Емілі Бронте «Грозовий перевал»)

Abstract

Визначено параметричну спрямованість компліменту в мовленнєвих актах, проаналізовано вітчизняні й зарубіжні дослідження компліменту, а також окреслено особливості його вербалізації на прикладі творів Шар¬лотти Бронте та Емілі Бронте. Комплімент розглянуто як важливий складник мовленнєвого спілкування носіїв англійської мови (британців й американців), що впливає на характер міжособистісних відносин комунікантів, ступінь їх взаєморозуміння й, відповідно, на успішність комунікації загалом. Комплімент як лінгвістично специфічне та культурно марковане висловлювання, − важливий елемент у спілкуванні представників англо¬мовної культури, він вербалізує такі явища, як похвала з нагоди свята, заходу чи річниці, возвеличення, вдячність, лестощі, проте він може також виступати формальним актом увічливості. Особливу увагу звернуто на те, що значну роль у вживанні компліментів відіграють соціальні фактори, оскільки різниця в соціальних ролях комунікантів значно знижує рівень нещирості компліментів. Важлива ознака компліментів – частотність, установлення якої засвідчує, що найуживанішими є компліменти, які виокремлюють зовнішність людини, розумові здібності, почуття гумору, дотепність, а також внутрішні якості та духовність. The article is devoted to the definition of the parametric direction of a compliment in the speech acts, analysis of the foreign and domestic studies of a compliment, description of the peculiarities of the verbalization of a compliment in speech on the basis of the works by Charlotte and Emily Bronte. A compliment is viewed as an important constituent part of the communication of the English speakers (the British and the Americans) which has an impact on the type of the interpersonal relationships of the communicators, on the level of their mutual understanding, and, consequently, on the success of communication in general. A compliment, as a linguistically specific and culturally marked utterance, is an important element of the communication of the representatives of the English culture and linguistically represents such phenomena as praise on the occasions of a holiday, event or anniversary, glorification, thankfulness or flattering but it can also be a simple act of politeness. A special attention has been paid to the fact that an important role in the usage of compliments is played by various social factors as differences in the social roles of the interlocutors can reduce the level of the insincerity of the compliments. A very important feature of the compliments is their frequency the definition of which proves that the most frequent compliments are the ones that point out a person’s appearance, mental abilities, a sense of humour, sharp wit, and inner personal qualities.
