Abstract

У роботі показані заходи російського уряду, спрямовані на витіснення Унійної церкви із суспільного життя населення Правобережної України у 30-х рр. ХІХ ст., процес підготовки «акту возз’єднання» 1839 р., визначена роль верхівки Унійної церкви у ліквідаційній політиці влади. Особлива увага звертається на постать Йосифа Семашка.Bilyk Victoria. Participation of the Uniate hierarchs in the liquidation of the Greek Uniate Church in the Russian Empire in the 30-ies of the XIX century. The article presents the policy of the Russian authorities, aimed at restriction of the Greek Uniate Church’s activity and its gradual liquidation in the 30-ies of the XIX century and also shows the preparation of «an act of reunification» in 1839. It is known that in 1794-1796 an intensive process of «joining» of Uniates to the Orthodox Church took place. Period from 1797 to the mid-1820s. is characterized by the weakening of the governmental pressure on the Greek Uniate Church. In the second half of the 1820s Russian authorities embittered his policy towards the Greek Uniate Church and began to set the stage for its final association with the Orthodox. Uniate bishops were involved in the process of the liquidation of the Greek Uniate Church. A special role is played by Lithuanian Bishop Joseph Semashko. He succeeded with the help of Belarusian Bishop V. Luzhinskyi and Bishop of Brest, Vicar of the Lithuanian Diocese A. Zubko to organize in 1839 the Cathedral of the Greek Uniate clergy in Polotsk, were a decision about the «reunification» of the Greek Uniate Church and the Orthodox was made.
