| Abstract: | У статті висвітлено проблему лінгвістичного походження абревіацій сучасної англійської мови, проаналізовано абревіації різних типів, семантичні та функціональні особливості скорочених лексичних одиниць, визначено семантичні відмінності між абревіацією і скороченням, вказано особливості їхніх класифікацій та досліджено абревіатури в наукових сферах. The article outlines linguistic nature of abbreviation phenomenon in modern English language. The abbreviations of various types, semantic and functional particularities of shortened lexical units were analyzed, semantic differences between the terms “abbreviation” and “shortening” were defined, the particularities of their classification were indicated and the abbreviations in scientific spheres were researched in the article. |
