Новації в побуті міських жителів Волинської губернії (кінець ХІХ – початок ХХ ст.)

Abstract

Розглянуто впровадження технічних новацій у побут міських жителів Волинської губернії в кінці ХІХ - на початку ХХ ст. Простежено процес електрифікації, вирішення питання водопостачання за допомогою спорудження водогонів, появи нових засобів зв’язку та пересування в окремих волинських містах. Зроблено спробу з’ясувати ставлення містян до модернізації їхнього повсякденного життя.The introduction of technical innovations in life of urban residents of the Volyn province in the end of the ХІХ - the beginning of the XX century was considered. Attention is focused on the process of electrification of Volyn cities. Questions of qualitative changes in the everyday life of citizens through the construction of water pipes, the emergence of telephone communications and road transport are also disclosed. By the beginning of the First World War electric illumination of streets carried out in four and telephone communication was functioned in five cities of the province. An attempt to elucidate the attitude of urban inhabitants to the modernization of their everyday life has been made. The problem requires new research regarding of using the achievements of science and technology in the dweller’s homes as well as their impact on the private lives of residents of cities and towns in the Volyn province.
