Ціннісні сегменти концепту freedom у дискурсі Барака Обами

Abstract

Аналізується концепт FREEDOM як один із базових концептів англомовного політичного дискурсу, особливості його актуалізації у дискурсі Б. Обами. Концепт розглядається як лінгвокогнітивне явище, як глобальна розумова одиниця, що є квантом структурованого знання. Особлива увага приділена ціннісній складовій концепту. Побудовано номінативне поле концепту FREEDOM через аналіз засобів мовної об’єктивації концепту. Через установлення синонімічного розширення ключової лексеми та аналіз контекстів уживання побудовано ядро номінативного поля. Шляхом дослідження сполучуваності виокремлених лексем виділено основні когнітивні ознаки концепту, описано ближню та дальню периферію номінативного поля концепту. Виокремлені когнітивні ознаки за домінуючими характеристиками об’єднано у ціннісні сегменти як складові ментальної структури концепту. Встановлено, що у структурі концепту FREEDOM дискурсу Барака Обами репрезентовано всі сегменти цінностей. Доведено, що когнітивні ознаки можуть одночасно входити до різних сегментів та представляти різні цінності. Установлено, що найширше в дискурсі Б. Обами репрезентовано сегмент СОЦІАЛЬНІ ЦІННОСТІ, оскільки усі виділені когнітивні ознаки певною мірою входять до його складу.In the article the concept of FREEDOM as one of the basic concepts of English-speaking political discourse is analysed, as well as peculiarities of its actualization in B. Obama’s discourse. The concept is treated as a linguistic-cognitive phenomenon, as a global unit of mentality, which is a quantum of structured knowledge. Special attention has been devoted to value as a constituent of the concept. Through the analysis of language means of concept actualization the nominative field of the concept of FREEDOM has been built. Having defined the series of synonyms for the key lexeme and hav ing analysed the contexts of their usage, we have built the core of the nominative field. The analysis of combinability of the defined lexemes made it possible to distinguish the main cognitive features of the concept, to describe the near and far peripher y of the nominative field of the concept. According to their dominating characteristics, the distinguished cognitive features are combined into segments of values, that are the constituents of concept mental structure. It is ascertained that all segments of values are represented in the mental structure of the concept of FREEDOM in Barack Obama’s discourse. It is proved that cognitive features may function as constituents of different segments and may represent different values at the same time. It is defined, that in B. Obama’s discourse SOCIAL VALUES segment is presented to the fullest extent, as all the distinguished cognitive features are included into it.
