Abstract

У статті розглянуто питання доменів профілювання концептів у когнітивній лінгвістиці. Оскільки основна частина знань про світ зберігається у когнітивних моделях, то доцільно детально їх описати і вивчити, дослі-джуючи певний концепт. Це визначає актуальність цього питання. Об’єктом дослідження є концепт LANGUAGE / МОВА. Концепт описано як аналог значення мовного вираження. Він осмислюється лише в контексті структур фонових знань, частиною яких він є. Домен визначається як концептуальна структура, що є фоном для профі¬лювання концепту. Він виступає когнітивною моделлю. Окреслено специфіку та ефектив¬ність використання доменів у когнітивній лінгвістиці. Визначено співвідношення між концептом і доменом. Зроблено висновки про домени профілювання концепту LANGUAGE / МОВА на матеріалі статей англомовних британських журналів за допомогою лінгвостатистичного підрахунку супровідних іменників, що асоціюються з іменем концепту. Визначено головні й найчастіше вживані домени в текстовій реалізації концепту. Здійснено їх класифікацію, що допомагає відобразити різні сфери вживання мови. The article deals with the domain of the concept LANGUAGE profile in cognitive linguistics. Since the bulk of knowledge about the world is kept in cognitive models, a detailed description and the study of these models while studying a particular concept is advisable. It forms the relevance of this issue. The object is the concept LANGUAGE. The objective of the article is to establish domains of the concept LANGUAGE profile embodied in the text. The main tasks are to explain the notion of the concept and the domain in cognitive linguistics, to determine their relationships, to single out the domains of the concept LANGUAGE and to interpret results of profiling in a qualitative and quantitative way. The concept is viewed to be similar to the meaning of linguistic expression and is kept in the human mind. It can be relevantly interpreted only in the context of background knowledge structures of which it is a part. A domain is defined as a conceptual structure that is the background of the concept profile. It is a cognitive model. The specificity and efficiency of domains’ usage in cognitive linguistics is established. The relation between the concept and the domain is determined. The conclusions are drawn about the domains of the concept LANGUAGE profile on the basis of its embodiment in the articles of British newspapers with the help of conceptual analysis of adjoining nouns associated with the name of the concept. The main and the most commonly used domains of the concept realization in articles are identified. Their classification is carried out, which helps to display the different areas of language notion.
